Abby Campbell is a designer, brand photographer and expert in all things social media. She creates beautiful spaces and she shares some of those spaces (and her life at home with her family) on her super aspirational but also down to earth Instagram account.

Here are some of her words of wisdom to help us all create our own inspiring and inviting spaces….

I absolutely love #StayingHome. I’ve always been passionate about creating a home vibe that is more about the feeling than the ‘things’. The smell, the hints of our personalities, the textures, the sounds. I tend to have a minimalist approach to what I bring into our space, so much so that friends often comment on  ‘where is all your STUFF?!?!’ (although don’t go to my basement….that’s where all the stuff went to die.) I’m very particular of what I want in our space. Items that in the words of Marie Kondo, Spark Joy. I also love creating spaces for my clients that reflect them personally and how they want to feel living in their space. AND I always, always strive to create that hygge vibe.  I’m also incredibly passionate about supporting small businesses and #shoppinglocal. Here are a few of my favourite ideas for loving your space, inexpensive styling ideas, and some of my fav inspo from our incredible local retailers!

  1. layer in coziness with these beautiful ethically sourced pom pom blankets from Pokoloko Ltd. Perfect for cozying up on the couch, or in bed. (available at Bradshaws)
  2. switch up your coffee table stack to include some whimsical things – like all the ‘special’ stones & beach glass your kids ‘had’ to bring home from the beach
  3. one of the best compliments I’ve ever had on my home is from a friend…and I quote ‘it always smells so fucking good in here’ – my fav clean scents are Mineral Oakmoss by Lampe Berger (Bradshaws) and Tobacco & Vanilla candle by Murphy & Jo. (Wills & Prior)
  4. let the kids design a centrepiece, my daughter styled our dining table with her gorgeous plastic animals and it sparked joy and and some fun dinner chats
  5. frame some new art – with all  kids crafting right now, switch out some older pictures with new bright and fun kid masterpieces. put it somewhere fun like the bathroom! my daughter did a pencil sketch of Willie Nelson, I put it in a gold frame from Chapters – and it’s my entire style vibe.
  6. crank the tunes – one of the biggest & most inexpensive ways to elevate your home vibe is with music. on repeat in our home is always Chris Stapleton
  7. get a good night sleep in new sheets – organic cotton from an independent canadian small brand – White Terry
  8. order some books to inspire! current favs are Modern Lunch for all the healthy food inspo (Bradshaws) & Joanna Gains’ Magnolia Table (Jillian’s)
  9. add a pop of colour – with these gorgeous velvet throw cushions from Wills & Prior – I have the mustard colour on my bed, and the green/blue version on my living room couches – but this soft blush!
  10. lush rich colour from Rug & Weave – an inexpensive way to add some LIFE to any space. imagine this gorgeous coloured rug beside your tub!
