This week, Eric and I went to see David Foster in concert. It was amazing. I was emotional the entire concert. I hovered somewhere between tears of nostalgia and absolute joy. I was in awe. I have loved David Foster for a very long time. He is also a very funny guy and he was very interactive with the audience. We laughed a lot and I did not want it to end.
I do not go to many concerts. My entire concert line-up includes Glass Tiger, Amy Grant, The Eagles, Blue Rodeo, Howard Jones and now David Foster. I guess I am really into Easy Listening! But this was one I just could not pass up. The first time I heard the love theme from St. Elmo’s Fire I was nine years old. It was one of my very first cassette tapes.
And then there was Water Fountain from The Secret of My Success (Have you seen this? It stars Michael J. Fox. It is so good!)
And the love song from Stealing Home (another great movie!).
I mastered The Winter Games Theme on piano from the 1988 Olympics and played it for my entire high school at a talent show. I had no business doing that. The Glory of Love from The Karate Kid was another hit I ‘mastered’.
I just love him. I always have. I think I said that already.
These are all of his hits – not just from the 80s.
And here are some pictures from our night out. A separated shoulder joint the night before did not stop Eric from going!
Gilt is our FAVOURITE restaurant in Kitchener.

My first concert was with you! Blue Rodeo ~ you gave me the tickets for Christmas (I went on to see them 3 or 4 more times!) There is nothing better than hearing the music you love played/sang live. It is absolutely emotional and electrifying. The next concert I am looking forward to is Pink. She had to cancel in May due to illness so I am anxiously awaiting August. Glad you enjoyed DF (even if he didn’t invite you in stage 😉 )
Wow, that was a great gift! For both of us 😉 I’m sad for you about Pink but at least you can still look forward to it. I actually almost put up my hand when he asked for people from the audience to come up and sing. I did not even care about embarrassing myself if I got to meet him. I planned to sing And When She Danced and I was practising it over and over in my head and I’m not even kidding.
Lori- I could have written that post word for word, down to learning the Winter Games theme and Glory of Love on the piano (but no talent show for me). And Stealing Home (gotta love Marc Harmon) is one of my favorite all-time movies 😉. Glad you enjoyed David Foster in concert!
Debbie! I’m so glad you understand! I just have such a strong connection to his music. Stealing Home is a movie not enough people have seen. He has a new piano album coming out this fall and he played a song from it – soooo good. Thanks for reading! (Why am I the only one who doesn’t know how to put emojis in these comments?!)
