It is a point of pride for me that I only wash my hair twice a week. I tell everyone I can. And people are generally curious. Some are grossed out. But what about when you exercise? Doesn’t it get greasy? Do you wear a shower cap?

I love my routine and I could never go back to the grind of washing and drying my hair EVERYDAY! There was a period of training I had to put my hair through (and by training I just mean washing it less and not going out in public) so it would respond to the new program, but it cooperated fairly quickly.

Washing my hair twice a week is one of the greatest gifts I have ever given myself. I try to convince everyone I can to do the same. Most are reluctant; curious but not ready to commit.

In the spirit of transparency I will share with you the process I go through every time I do wash my hair:

  1. Wash with shampoo. Rinse.
  2. Wash again with same shampoo. Rinse.
  3. Wash with blue shampoo and leave on while washing other bits. Rinse.
  4. Apply conditioner and leave on while washing more bits. Rinse.
  5. Apply leave in conditioner once out of the shower.
  6. Apply heat protectant to ends.
  7. Blow dry with round brush. Usually. Sometimes I just leave my curls.

Now you know why I only do this twice a week!!! Maybe I should aim for once!

How often do you wash your bedsheets is always my next question!
